Make contact!

Trustful relationships & communication with people under influence

When you work in harm reduction or meet people who use drugs in your work, you may encounter difficulties in making contact, while trying to establish trustful relationships with people and when communicating with people under influence.

People who use drugs may have a chaotic life on the streets or have mental health problems, which complicates contact even further. What do you do when a person is in psychosis, acts aggressively or is dosing of constantly? Over the years Mainline has realised that human contact is actually the most difficult and the most important element of harm reduction interventions. Our trainings therefore often focus on making good contact.
